The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States. First issued by the U.S. Mint in 1986, each coin contains one troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver and carries a face value of one dollar, although its actual market value is based primarily on the price of silver and its collectible appeal.

The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman’s celebrated Walking Liberty design, originally used on the half dollar from 1916 to 1947. Since 2021, the reverse has featured an eagle preparing to land while carrying an oak branch; earlier coins display a heraldic eagle with a shield.

American Silver Eagles are produced in bullion, proof, and uncirculated versions. Their guaranteed silver content, iconic artwork, and recognition worldwide make them popular with both precious-metal investors and coin collectors.
